Just in: a theatre review

A Midsummer Night's Dream   is about a world of mountain folklore, rural tradition, and whispered superstition. Lovers cross paths under the cover of night while something wild and magical stirs deep in the woods. When a traveling troupe, feuding families, and mischievous forest spirits collide, reality bends and chaos takes hold beneath the summer sky.  This production is placed in  the moonlit hills of 1930s Appalachia.  This reimagined Shakespearean classic blends poetic language with the rich atmosphere of the Appalachian mountains, where love is unpredictable, magic feels just out of sight, and nothing is quite as it seems once the forest wakes. Direction: The director for this production was  Dallyn Steenerson. They took a different approach to Shakespeare, in a delightful way.   Anything Goes   follows wall-street assistant Billy Crocker as he stows away to win back debutante Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, with the chaotic comedic help of evangelist-turned-singer Reno Sweeney and a disguised gangster. The  music and lyrics are by Cole Porter. The original book was a collaborative effort by Guy Bolton and P. G. Wodehouse, revised considerably by the team of Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. Direction: The show was directed by Jan Williams and Wyatt Welch. The team accomplished something that I never thought was possible- finally making me a like a production of "Anything Goes."  They made sure to assemble the best production team around. They had a clear vision, and made sure to let their team know what they wanted.
